Adult Faith Formation: Learnings from Phinney Ridge

Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church of North Seattle, a congregation with a 15 year history of the practice of the Adult Catechumenate, will host a shareshop day under the auspicies of Columbia Leadership Network on Saturday, 21 June at their church home, 7500 Greenwood Avenue North. The purpose of the time together is to introduce pastors, laypersons, denominational worship and evangelism and outreach coordinators to the wonders of bringing unchurched, dechurched and underchurched men and women to the font of baptism and beyond…into baptismal living.

Ideal audience for the day together would be leadership teams from congregations made up of a pastor or lay leader in the area of evangelism, worship, or outreach and a 3-5 member team of potential people who will implement the process of the Catechumenate back in their local ministry settings.

Leadership will be provided by the team of Phinney Pastors Paul Hoffman and Beverly Piro along with men and women from the congregation who have come to faith through the process that at PRLC is known as “The WAY,” and other lay persons from the church who have served as sponsors, catechists, and team members.
